Horrors of the Heart(h)
I belong to a Punjabi family. In our house, hospitality and ‘feeding till you can breathe no more’ are synonyms. Till the guests who have come over are not fed beyond the retention capacity of their stomachs, they have not been treated well. Punjabis love to eat, period. The cities of Punjab, especially Amritsar are particularly known for oil-dripping, calorie-rich irresistibly yummy food that is bound to increase a person’s cholesterol by leaps and bounds. That is not a deterrent though. Why? I did mention it is irresistibly yummy, didn’t I? We Punjabis have large hearts and huge appetites and expect the same from everyone. Therefore, needless to say that…

Max Fresh moves of little feet
I came across this contest on Blogadda and decided to let it pass as it demanded uploading a video of someone dancing to the latest Colgate Max Fresh Move song featuring Allu Arjun and Anushka Manchanda. Ask me to dance in a party with others or dance in a baraat, I will happily oblige but filming a video of myself while doing so and uploading it on the social media….well, I am not that good or confident at all. Nevertheless, I sat listening to the song on my laptop, probably imagining what I would dance like if I could. My 6 year old daughter, who was all sleepy and unwilling…

Airtel 4G-Nothing can be faster!
The world of communications has been undergoing revolution in a big way. From the advent of land line phones to mobiles and social media, the journey has been eventful and not very long. First, phones became smart and now networks have become smarter. Airtel recently launched 4G services and has become the first player to offer it to the public across 296 cities. It is keeping up its image of being a customer-focused brand as the offers that come along are truly customer friendly. What is 4G? It is fourth generation of telecommunication technology and the successor of 3G . It is also known as LTE i.e. Long Term Evolution…

Italy in my kitchen- Delmonte Chifferi Rigati!
In the world of Army, ‘socials’ and ‘dinners’ are big words. That is how we meet, that’s how we interact and break the proverbial ice. Every new comer into a unit is welcomed with a ‘dining in’ and every one leaving is bid farewell with a ‘dining out’. We interact with officers and wives of other regiments and brigades at dinner parties popularly referred to as ‘social evenings’ or simply ‘socials’. Other than these ‘socials’ that are highly formal (spelled as saree for women) functions, colleagues also invite each other over for less-than-formal dinners (nothing is casual in the army) at home. Last month, husband dear announced as I reached…

Constructive parenting with Colgate
source Children today are very intelligent and smart. They are exposed to technology and knowledge at very tender ages. This exposure can be converted from a bane to a boon by using parental discretion. We don’t need to shelter our kids and hide them away. That would mean taking them back to the medieval times…we don’t want to do that. A prudent thing to do would be to guide them and strike a balance. That is what constructive parenting is all about. Constructive parenting not only boosts your child’s self-esteem but also makes your child confident and creative. It is not without reason that children have amazing imaginations. They can…

4G is the way to be!
Just when you start thinking that technology could not be better, comes an innovation that makes you eat your own words. No it is true! When we were young, land-lines were perceived as nothing less than a magician’s contraptions and people would line up outside phone booths to make calls. Then arrived mobiles that literally took over our world. Can you imagine a life without your mobile? Well, I can’t! Internet connection, especially 3G, transformed a mobile from phone to smartphone. The world shrunk on to a device in our hands, giving us the freedom to access almost anything and everything. Right when we thought this is it, Airtel launched 4G! By doing so, it has become…

Wife’s serial or your cricket? UC Cricket ends the tussle!
In India, cricket is not a sport. It is a religion with fanatic followers who live the game. Whenever a cricket series is on, you can see abandoned streets and malls. Nothing interests us more than watching our ‘gurus’ and ‘idols’ slash the bat through the air and strike a six. Every boundary is celebrated and every wicket lost mourned. The fever of cricket possesses our nation , especially the men with such intensity that they suffer amnesia during the period and give up on all worldly ties except cricket. Even a term has been coined for the bereaved better halves- ‘cricket widows’ who lose their husbands to cricket. There…

Asus Zenfone2-power in your hands!
Today if I think of the things I cannot step out of the house without, I can think of only three-my wallet, my watch and my mobile. On many occasions, I have forgotten the first two but never the last one. Mobiles have become like a second skin to our hands and they spend very little time inside our pockets and purses. The same goes for me as well. I am not a tech-savvy person or a gadget freak but I do like to own an impressive looking phone good on performance. It has been over a year and a half since I bought a mobile and with my birthday…

The olfactory sojourn-from smelly to smiley!
My favourite thing about staying in an expensive hotel is the mesmerising aroma in the air that fondles your olfactory cells the moment you enter. I long for a similar one in my house where I am forever battling weird odours. Stinky shoes and smelly socks are the usual culprits but manageable as the stench disappears the moment the articles are removed. I have even mastered the art of tackling the smell of wet towels that my kiddo and husband conveniently leave behind on the bed. Heating milk cream to make ghee is another foul-smelling necessity that my maid is instructed to perform while I am at office. There are still some wicked smells that just don’t go…
