5 tips to keep your baby’s skin safe and soft!

Parenting is a journey, a path you learn to tread on only once you step on it. No literature, no advice can prepare you for what lies ahead. As your baby grows, so do you as a parent. Despite the ups and downs, the sleepless nights and the conversion of your house into a laundry…parenting is a wonderful on-the-job training. God has deliberately made these little bundles so cute- a gurgle, a chuckle and a smile from them can instantly make everything seem worthwhile.
With parenting comes an immense sense of responsibility. The little person in your hands depends on you for everything and even at an age when she doesn’t understand a thing, you are the one she trusts. This makes parents feel all the more cautious of whatever they choose for their babies. I don’t belong to the cautious variety though, I am categorised as the paranoid one(by my husband). You can never be too careful when it comes to babies, right?
My little darling is now 6 years old and I have learnt a lot over the years. Let me share with you 5 tips to keep your baby’s skin safe:
1. Know your baby’s skin
First and foremost, it is important to understand that a newborn baby’s skin is very different from an adult’s. It is much more sensitive and delicate as it is almost 20-30% thinner than ours. Moreover, the skin was exposed to a liquid environment for nine months at a stretch. It is now adjusting to a new environment.
The surface area of a baby’s skin is more than ours, contrary to what you may believe. Therefore, a baby’s skin loses moisture and heat very fast. It is important to keep your baby warm and hydrated.
So understand that what works for you WILL not work for your baby!
2. Massage with natural oils
Massaging is the best way to keep your baby’s skin supple and healthy and is also a great way to bond. Gentle massaging will also improve circulation and strengthen muscles besides relaxing the baby and helping her go to sleep. Use only natural oils for the massage. Natural almond oil/ olive oil are suitable for the purpose. Do not use chemical-containing oils even if they have ‘baby oil’ imprinted on them.
Do not buy anything without carefully checking out the ingredients. Do not use paraffin as it clogs the pores and suffocates the skin. Do not use products that contain dyes or heavy scents..simply go natural-you can never go wrong!
3. Use cotton garments
Dress up your baby in cotton garments. No synthetic cloth should touch her skin.
Cotton is natural and organic, therefore does not cause allergies. It also lets the skin breathe and does not irritate it. Moreover cotton can withstand high temperatures and thus can be sterilized before your baby wears it.
Be careful to wash the garments in mild detergents. Using harsh detergents can again cause your baby’s skin to break out in a rash. Not only garments, use a mild detergent to wash the baby’s blanket and towel as well.
4. Keep your baby sun safe
Of course you feel your baby needs the sun, especially if it is cold winter season but the sun can do more harm than good. Try to avoid direct sun exposure if your baby is less than six months old. If you do need to go out, do not go without applying a good baby sunscreen on exposed parts. Once again, check the ingredients beforehand. Keep the rest of the baby’s skin covered in clothes and use a big hat to shield her head and face. Use sunglasses too for your rockstar!
5. Choose diapers wisely
I tried to go the no-diaper way when my daughter was born. It was still manageable during the day though very arduous but at night, it was practically impossible to wake up and change the nappy again and again. Moreover, even the gap of 5-10 minutes in which the baby lies in a wet nappy can damage the skin and cause nappy rash. Therefore, I made the choice of switching to diapers and trust me, I did not repent it. Of course you need to choose the diapers wisely.
Choose a diaper that is soft and absorbs wetness rapidly. It is important that he straps are not hard or too tight. Diapers must be changed often and even diaper free periods are important in between.
Premium care pants from Pampers are surely a great choice. Pampers brings you the softest ever Premium Care Pants. Its cotton-like softness is #SoftestForBabySkin and allows it to breathe, thus keeping baby’s skin soft and healthy, and your baby happy. It also absorbs and locks away wetness. The waistband and leg straps are soft and stretchable too. What’s more, there is baby lotion inside which keeps the baby’s skin soft and safe. Do you need more?
So these were my 5 tips to keep your baby’s skin safe and retain the ‘baby softness’. Do let me know if you found them useful or if you would like to add something to the list.
Happy parenting!

It is important that you associate your self with good and enough sleep and rest to have youthful skin, aside from having a good habits of course. As far as possible you have to have a good and positive view towards life.
