Take a break, reclaim your life! I just did.
Do you wake up every morning and follow the same routine over and over again, everyday? Do you have a mental list of things you plan on doing ‘once you have the time to’? Does the phrase,’Where is the time?’ come spontaneously to you whenever anyone asks you about a recent movie, a book or a cool cafe that just opened in your town? Do you realise it feels okay for you to say yes to all these? Don’t be surprised if you find yourself nodding in response to all the aforesaid questions. Most of you do one or many of these and quite frankly, till recently, I did too!…

#CelebrateSuper- The undauntable spirit of Delhi!
I asked my soul: What is Delhi? She replied: The world is the body and Delhi its life! -Mirza Ghalib That is Delhi for everyone who is in the city, whether to settle there for good or on a short stop in the sojourn of their lives. Delhi has a life of its own, a unique entity that engulfs and accepts everyone who enters. For those out of Delhi, Delhi is polluted, congested and a terrible place to live in. Ask those who live there- Delhi has given them everything. There is nowhere else they would rather be! The city of Delhi is unique in its contradictions and overwhelms…

The tale of the mobile sale!
There was a time when I loved changing my mobile every time a new gadget hit the market. That was during the initial years of the millenium when mobiles were a new thing and every new model brought something different to the table. I waited eagerly for upgrades and innovations and used all my savings(saved miserly from monthly budget while in college) towards buying a new mobile. Nowadays, after the dawn of the mobile revolution, Â there are so many models that look almost alike; the motivation is lesser and confusion more but nevertheless, I still like to own a decent, value-for-money, good spec mobile and not the same one for…

From sweet 16 to spectacular 17- Hailing in the new year!
I might be a little late but cannot let go of the customary welcome to the new year and the usual goodbye as I look over my shoulder at the year gone by and reflect on how it was. It is a habit that refuses to let go and I am somewhat glad that it doesn’t. It is enlightening to look back at the past and realise that what seems disastrous was actually not that awful and the ecstasy over certain things was shortlived as well. It changes perspective regarding many things. 2016 started on a very perplexed note. Professionally and personally, choices were difficult. Many hard decisions were taken…

Dear Zindagi-A letter to life!
#Dear Zindagi, I know you must be thinking, ”Not again!” But fear not! Today, I do not address you to lament or blame you for my own mistakes and misadventures, I write to you today to let you know what I seldom say to you- ”Thank you!” Yes, you heard it right! I want to thank you…not only for the blessings that you brought along my way but also for the tears that taught me valuable lessons. As I look back at the time gone by, I realise that a lot of years have passed and what I am today is nothing but a culmination of the moments and experiences…

Can you?
Can you be the light that shines through the darkest of my days? hold me tight when I am cold and lonely in your warm embrace… Can you? Can you understand the tears I do not cry and the pretentious smiles I wear? listen to the unsaid words that linger Just be patient, oh dear! Can you? Can you pick up the pieces and put them together and make me whole again? stay and be by my side forever, share my joy, my sorrow, my pain… Can you?

5 reasons why I hate my best friend!
I have a lot of friends, many type of friends; I love them all for their unique, quirky traits but one of them, well I hate her and she’s one of my best friends. Surprised? Don’t be. You will understand why I feel the way I do about her when you read the reasons why: Reason #1: I hate her for the lovely memories that make me cry The fun of wearing the same colour tees, sporting the same brand of sports shoes and even getting ‘flicks’ cut together.. The studying together at night, kicking each other to get ready for college, sharing meals, cosmetics, clothes and coffee…hostel was so…

Small steps towards heart health!
source The heart forms the centre of our existence, both physical and emotional. Despite its incessant hard work and unending loyalty, it is not cared for as much. We claim that love resides in the heart but fail to maintain love’s abode. We blame it for all the wrong choices we make in our lives but do not credit it for the healthy lives we lead. Add to it the stress of our busy everyday routines, the sedentary lifestyles we embrace and the unhealthy food choices we give in to- you get the recipe for a heart disease. The fistful of muscles that pump steadily do not demand too much…

When a doctor falls ill!
While it is very natural for a doctor to fall ill (blame it on the human bodies we too possess!), those around one, find it quite incredulous and amusing. I was recently hospitalized for five days and realized that while being patient comes naturally to a doctor, it is very difficult for a doctor to be a patient! Here’s why: ‘How can you be sick? You are a doctor!’ This is the usual line you get from people around you. Trust me, it is the most irritating thing anyone can say to you. Can someone please tell these people that we do try to stay healthy but if we really…

A heartfelt promise to my heart!
It is true that we women take less care of our health than we should. It has nothing to do with ignorance or lack of awareness, trust me. It just stems from the fact that in our checklist of priorities, we forget to list ourselves. Working women have too much on their hands and the house makers have no time. I say so because despite being a medical doctor myself, I usually forget to do anything proactively for fitness. I just keep procrastinating, thinking that I will start once I am done with the work at hand. Work never ends and it is my non-medico husband who reminds me constantly…
