Star Wars in my home- Re-invented!
As I grew up watching and awing over Star Wars, I never knew I would be living them one day. Surprised? Well, don’t be. Having a child in the house is nothing less than Star Wars; you get the Jedi and Sith together, packaged in the form of an adorably cute little person and you constantly fight to eliminate the Sith and bask in the glory of the occasional moments when the Jedi takes over. Being a parent is apparently an intergalactic experience too! HP has always come up with innovative, out-of-the-box ideas but I am literally swept away by its Star Wars Special Edition notebook. It is like a…

Horrors of the Heart(h)
I belong to a Punjabi family. In our house, hospitality and ‘feeding till you can breathe no more’ are synonyms. Till the guests who have come over are not fed beyond the retention capacity of their stomachs, they have not been treated well. Punjabis love to eat, period. The cities of Punjab, especially Amritsar are particularly known for oil-dripping, calorie-rich irresistibly yummy food that is bound to increase a person’s cholesterol by leaps and bounds. That is not a deterrent though. Why? I did mention it is irresistibly yummy, didn’t I? We Punjabis have large hearts and huge appetites and expect the same from everyone. Therefore, needless to say that…

Aaj kal ke bachhe- Generation Z!
Yes,I do get it! Times change and so does the world with it and it would sound just natural for the kids of today to be different from us. What is noteworthy here is that the process of evolution which supposedly takes millions of years to show an apparent effect seems to have accelerated manifolds over the past two decades thanks to technology! There is no generation gap between us and aaj kal ke bachhe…it is like we are worlds apart. The kids are not at fault,no. It is what the world has become today and we cannot hide our kids in a cocoon and shelter them from advancement…it even…

The art called Paisa vasool(ing)!
She was haggling with the subzi-wala since the past ten minutes over the price of brinjal. Of course, the vendor eventually gave in and accepted the price the lady offered, which was two rupees lesser than what he had demanded. She felt pride but the joy of victory still felt incomplete. As he handed over the bag to her, she was eyeing the coriander and green chillies sitting on the counter behind the vendor. He saw the eager eyes, mumbled something under his breath and added in a sprig of coriander and a couple of green chillies to the bag. Now she was beaming with joy. With an air of…

things people say….
How many times have you doubted your own ears and wanted to ask the other person ,’Did you really say what I just heard?’ Okay don’t start counting on me,I know it must have happened quite a lot many times. Just wanted to share a few of mine. I know it shall sound hilarious here but when it happens, you just wish you hadn’t been there or had the power to vaporize the one who just said what he/she did. Well, wishful thinking! All you can do mostly is fret…so here goes! source Try some of these answers the next time you hear one of these. Q1) ‘Aa gaye?’ when…

The six you should not miss-#CrashthePepsiIPL ads!
Pepsi has always been more than just a cold drink! The folks at Pepsi really know how to rope in the masses and make every activity they are involved with, a very fun-filled extravaganza. Last year,it was internship with Pepsi and this year, they have provided a platform to all budding directors and aspiring actors (who doesn’t dream of being one?) to showcase their talent and be featured on television. Pepsi ads have forever been my favourites, from ‘Yehi hai right choice baby!’ through ‘Ye dil maange more’ to ‘Oh yes, abhi!’ This year cricket fever is back with a vengeance, the IPL following World cup and Pepsi has aptly come up with…

The Walk
I recently started the evening walk ritual with a friend just to stay fit and ok yes, also for the daily dose of gossip we both share. We chose to walk the ‘the walking plaza’, a term every army-wife would understand. For the rest, let me explain-it is a stretch of road inside a cantonment, lined by picturesque trees which is closed to traffic for specific hours in the morning and evening for walking. Oh and yes, every lamp post has a speaker mounted on it and music plays during ‘walking hours’. Sounds amazing, right? The initial few days were spent trying to just complete the circuit, either one not willing to surrender. We…

Whether the weather….
This post is dedicated to the ‘Weather God’ who seems Hell-bent on driving me nuts! For once, can someone tell me What is the weather like? Is it hot or cold? I am going crazy trying to figure it out. As if problems in life are already not enough, the WG is adamant on keeping the weather a suspense. It seems like he is bored of the meek human beings not giving him his due respect and is now playing around to show the material he is made of. The weather now changes on a daily basis… seasons are a thing of the past. The weather app on my mobile is also…
