This Friendship Day, befriend yourself!
Friendship day is not far away and soon everyone will gear up to celebrate it in their own individual style. For some, it is a day of celebration with friends. For some, it means calling up old buddies and reminiscing the times spent together. For a few, it is a day to reflect within and grieve the absence of friends in their lives. For the rest, it is just another day created by the Western world and promoted by commercial brands for their own advantage. Well, whatever suits you! I love being around friends but first of all, I am my own friend too. Surprised? Don’t be! I am not…

A note outside a doctor’s clinic
Dear patient, Before you enter my clinic and we form the doctor-patient relationship, I want certain things clear between you and me. When I studied for years to become the doctor I am today, besides medicine, I was taught the ethics of my practice as well and I understand the sanctity of the bond we both shall form once I agree to treat you. I understand your disease as well as your value as a person while you on the other hand, know nothing about me. All you know is what the media and the word-of-mouth feed you, which is hardly true. I am uncomfortable doing this but it has…

D.I.Y. – I Did It Yay!
D.I.Y might be Do-It-Yourself for you but for me it is Do-It- (wh)Y? I am very lazy when it comes to the DIY things. I am creatively endowed, don’t you even doubt that and I can sketch and paint very well besides my new-found writing skills 😉 I somehow never have the time. I don’t know…maybe I am juggling too many things or I just don’t have the motivation to implement any D.I.Y ideas around the house. Coming to think of it, I think it is the latter as I live in fauji houses, all of which were probably created decades ago and look like an old hag whose face…

Asus Zenfone2-power in your hands!
Today if I think of the things I cannot step out of the house without, I can think of only three-my wallet, my watch and my mobile. On many occasions, I have forgotten the first two but never the last one. Mobiles have become like a second skin to our hands and they spend very little time inside our pockets and purses. The same goes for me as well. I am not a tech-savvy person or a gadget freak but I do like to own an impressive looking phone good on performance. It has been over a year and a half since I bought a mobile and with my birthday…

My world in my arms-when I hug you dad!
Dear Dad, Happy Father’s Day! I love you and I miss you. This year, I wanted to give you something that would reflect the love and gratitude I feel towards you but.. What do you give to the man who gave you everything? I owe you my life Dad; no material thing can even faintly measure up to the magnanimity of your love. There were so many times when I missed saying Thank you…so many moments when I ought to have expressed in words the feeling within but just remained quiet. Today, I want to let you know by…

Sending hugs your way…on Father’s Day!
I sat down yesterday with the laptop in front of me and browsed through various shopping sites, thinking of a gift for my dad on Father’s Day. I could think of none that could even remotely match up to what all he has given me. This Father’s Day, I just want to hug him and say thank you! I know even words cannot be enough to express my love and gratitude….still I want to hug him and say… You held me so nimbly when I was born Afraid you were of hurting me. I felt secure in your arms Your warm embrace around me. When I slept on your tummy…

The olfactory sojourn-from smelly to smiley!
My favourite thing about staying in an expensive hotel is the mesmerising aroma in the air that fondles your olfactory cells the moment you enter. I long for a similar one in my house where I am forever battling weird odours. Stinky shoes and smelly socks are the usual culprits but manageable as the stench disappears the moment the articles are removed. I have even mastered the art of tackling the smell of wet towels that my kiddo and husband conveniently leave behind on the bed. Heating milk cream to make ghee is another foul-smelling necessity that my maid is instructed to perform while I am at office. There are still some wicked smells that just don’t go…

Not the regular dal-roti girl…
I am not a feminist, not even a conventionalist… I am just a normal girl, the kind you meet every day, in the office…on the streets and even in your homes. The only difference is that I am not the dal-roti types. Don’t get it? I don’t cook the meals in my house. Here, I said it! I don’t do it out of choice. I have a maid who does and I have no qualms admitting it. source Okay fine, you say but why blog about it? I write today because the majority of people in our country still would read my confession and shake their heads in disapproval. The…

The art called Paisa vasool(ing)!
She was haggling with the subzi-wala since the past ten minutes over the price of brinjal. Of course, the vendor eventually gave in and accepted the price the lady offered, which was two rupees lesser than what he had demanded. She felt pride but the joy of victory still felt incomplete. As he handed over the bag to her, she was eyeing the coriander and green chillies sitting on the counter behind the vendor. He saw the eager eyes, mumbled something under his breath and added in a sprig of coriander and a couple of green chillies to the bag. Now she was beaming with joy. With an air of…

A dream performance-#MaxFreshMove!
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and smiled as I opened my eyes. This is bliss, I thought. Only if it was not an offsite with the office team to Kikar Lodge! Maybe if I didn’t wake up and go out, every one would forget about me and let me be. You see, I am not the ‘blue eyed’ employee of my boss. I am rather the ‘red eyed’ one(if there is any such term)- his eyes definitely get red with anger when he sees me. I was trying to bury myself deeper into my cozy blanket when I heard music playing outside. It got louder and soon felt…
