Travel to beaches-my favourite theme for a dream!
You must have often heard the proverbial dialogue of Shahrukh Khan from the movie Om Shanti Om that implies that if you wish something hard enough, the whole world conspires to fulfill it. Very theatrical. I know but destiny does work in mysterious ways to help you reach your goals. I always loved traveling as a child and every summer vacation I spent at home made me dream of the places I could have seen. As I grew up, I kept hoping I meet a soulmate who shares with me my love for travel. As luck would have it (or as destiny conspired it to be), I ended up falling…

8 things you can blame on your kids and get away with!
Parents, especially mothers, are often blamed for everything the kid does! It even gets irritating at times and you feel like shouting that you can’t really be held responsible for every action. The kids of today have their own minds and parenting itself is a tough task, we don’t need people judging us all the time and making us feel guilty.Ā That said, have you ever tried to blame your kid for something you did or used your children as an excuse to get out of tricky situations? I have and I am sure you must have too! Well, parenting should have a few perks too, don’t you think? š I…

When a doctor falls ill!
While it is very natural for a doctor to fall ill (blame it on the human bodies we too possess!), those around one, find it quite incredulous and amusing. I was recently hospitalized for five days and realized that while being patient comes naturally to a doctor, it is very difficult for a doctor to be a patient! Here’s why: ‘How can you be sick? You are a doctor!’ This is the usual line you get from people around you. Trust me, it is the most irritating thing anyone can say to you. Can someone please tell these people that we do try to stay healthy but if we really…

Trekking to Triund? Must read this!
”It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves!” – Edmund Hillary There is a magic in the mountains, watching them is awe-inspiring while scaling them…well, that gives a sense of achievement like no other! Trekking can be exhilarating as well as liberating at the same time. Trek to Triund offers an opportunity to indulge in trekking to people of all ages as it is not as arduous as many others. In the last post, I wrote about a trek to a cave temple, Shiv Khori. Located at a distance of around 9kms from McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh, the trek officially starts from Gallu Devi temple. To reach the temple,…

Must-see in Jammu & Kashmir- Shiv Khori Cave Temple
Shiv Khori Temple is a must-see if you are planning to visit any place in Jammu & Kashmir. This temple, situated in a cave, fills you with awe and a mystical calm. Located in the district Reasi, about 80 kms from Katra and 140 kms from Jammu, it is housed atop a hill and one needs to trek for about 3.5 kms to reach the temple. The trek route is flanked by mountains on one side and a river on the other. The unadulterated beauty of nature and the caress of the cool winds are complemented by chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’. The trek is comfortable and the distance…

Kolkata,an experience that lives on!-A photo travel blog
Kolkata, or the erstwhile Calcutta, is known as ‘The City of Joy’! Rightfully so, for never have I seen a place so enriching for a traveler’s soul. It is an experience that lingers on in your senses long after you leave it behind. The city showcases contradictions co-existing in perfect harmony with each other. The architecture pulls you back to the colonial era and you feel the high of time travel. The busy roads and honking vehicles bring you back to the present day and you look out at towering skyscrapers that make the place look like a concrete forest.Ā Poverty stares you in the face in the narrow lanes while…

The Ever-Guilty Mom Syndrome- Do you suffer from it?
The Ever-Guilty Mom Syndrome- a syndrome that is lesser known but highly prevalent! Parenting is tough, super tough! It makes you borderline paranoid (made me one at least!) and then, when you start assessing yourself according the benchmarks set by the world, friends, family or yourself, you are consumed with guilt. Every night before I go to bed, I have this gnawing feeling inside of me that maybe I shouted too much on my daughter today, maybe I lost my cool too soon and that I could have been a better mom. I resolve to changeĀ it all the next day and go to sleep. The next day, I begin with…

Ready to experience redi-Go!
Travel is the true way to experience life and road trips are the best mode of travel, at least according to me. First of all, let me tell you that I am extremely fond of driving and secondly, I love big cars! So it might appear strange as to why I am posting anything about a car in the small hatchback segment. It is for the simple reason that the price tag on this one makes you want to explore further. With Rs. 2.5 lakhs as the starting price and the looks as you can see them, it is worth a test drive. Considering Datsun’s reputation, it might not be…

There is an amalgamation of joyous fun and serene calm in Goa. You find whichever you are looking for. A popular tourist destination, it is associated mostly with water sports, beaches, fenny and partying. Someone who understands and loves the place knows that it is much more. If you…

Andamans- A perfect vacation!
The best vacation I have had so far is the one I spent in the Andamans. It would have been the perfect one had I not lost the photographs of the trip. Incredible you say? Well, it is true! Over-enthusiastic about the trip, my husband and I wanted to carry a ”good” high tech camera along, so borrowed it from a friend. No, we did not lose it (thankfully!) but forgot to take a back-up of the photographs before handing the camera back. Who does that, right? Because of that, and of course the fact that Andamans is an incredibly beautiful place, I want to revisit it. Way…
