Stop judging! It is too easy.
What is it nowadays with judging everyone and everything? Has the nation suddenly gained enlightenment or stumbled upon the great wisdom? Earlier we saw allegations or accusations but now no more. We do not send anyone to trial…we simply judge. Why listen to the other person’s side of the story? Why waste time thinking of an explanation for whatever has happened? It is so much simpler and time saving to just go ahead and pass the verdict. The documentary India’s daughter was not even released when it was judged not fit for the Indian audience. Yes,it is not and I say this not because of the way the entire incident…

Melody
When raindrops fall on tin roofs, When softly rumbles the earth’s core, When rustles wind through dry leaves, It is melody when ripples strike the shore. When birds on a twig sing together, When whistles a train through forest grove, When a clock ticks in pure rhythm, It is melody when sings a heart in love.

Minors and adult (movie) stuff? A major issue.
A couple of days back,a friend asked me, ‘Do you write on parenting?’ When I replied in affirmation, she asked me to take up a very relevant topic that I found intriguing. ‘Kids and adult movies’ I decided to write on it but it soon it slipped out of my mind. A couple of days ago, when I went to watch a thriller certified A,thanks to the violence and abuses it was brimming with(don’t get any ideas)with a friend, the number of infants and toddlers I saw there had me staring in disbelief. I confirmed from my friend if we were in the wrong theatre, thanks to the screen number confusion in mutiplexes.…

Don’t forget to break the fast!
After every sunset comes a new sunrise…and breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and as a doctor,I can vouch for that. What you eat in the morning has a great influence on your physical and mental agility throughout the day. Why to have breakfast? 1) Breakfast restores the body’s energy and glucose stores after an overnight fast. 2) It lowers stress hormone and elevates mood. 3) It fires up the body’s metabolism…skipping breakfast makes you gain, not lose weight!(eye-opener) Despite being the most important one,it is the most neglected. No one has time in the morning… Kids are getting late for school…parents for work. My family very…

Optimism will take you far!
I always wanted to write…even when I was an eight year old reading Noddy by Enid Blyton! I graduated to Hardy Boys,Nancy Drew…then Agatha Christie and Sidney Sheldon…matured to reading classics and contemporary literature….the urge to write remained. Over the years, I wrote a little…random thoughts….a few poems…but till a year back,I was basically just procrastinating! I thought I would write when I had the time…a utopian dream when you are married, have a child and a full time job. My eldest brother loves writing too( and yes,I look up to my brothers a lot, which you must have made out by now if you have read my previous posts). In the…

When my soldier is gone….An Army wife writes
Wish for you as all dreams unsaid, Miss you as miss breath the dead. Desire you like flight the bound, Cherish you like a treasure found. Follow you as sunflower follows sun, Trust you the way I trust none. Need you like deserts need rain, Love you like I’ll never love again! Do I need to tell you…I am missing my hero in Olive Greens? Yes,the soldier is out and I have braved five days without him but there are still 49 more to go… Every time he leaves,it is the same…as difficult as ever…never gets easier. Stages of coping: Praying he won’t leave…. Sulking when he is leaving…. Trying…

Push the envelope-take a risk!
source The year was 2011. Life was going through a lot. I had left my job as a medical officer a year back to be with my husband at the place of his posting and as fate would have it,he moved out to a field location(non-family station for the non-faujis) within a month. My daughter wasn’t even a year old then. I came back to my parents’ place not knowing what else to do. I spent an entire year trying to work out the possibilities in my head but nothing made sense. It was overwhelming to not have my husband around to raise our daughter and I had no idea…

Whether the weather….
This post is dedicated to the ‘Weather God’ who seems Hell-bent on driving me nuts! For once, can someone tell me What is the weather like? Is it hot or cold? I am going crazy trying to figure it out. As if problems in life are already not enough, the WG is adamant on keeping the weather a suspense. It seems like he is bored of the meek human beings not giving him his due respect and is now playing around to show the material he is made of. The weather now changes on a daily basis… seasons are a thing of the past. The weather app on my mobile is also…

No forevers…if not together!
There are so many times in life when you feel weak, when you feel like giving up is the only option left. Suddenly then, a phone call from a friend, a visit from a family member or just a smile from your child changes everything and you find a reason to stand up again and fight back. The mind tries its best to repress and keep under wraps all the awful memories and does it pretty well too. It is only when you sit and force back the curtains that it lets you revisit the restricted area. I have such a memory too. I was in the final year of…

This Women’s Day- End the Guilt!
The UN theme this year for International Women’s Day is Empowering women, Empowering humanity. Picture it! source UN feels that 100% of the goals cannot be achieved if 50% of the people cannot reach their full potential. So true! The lesser than 50% (and never increasing beyond) population needs to awaken from the slumber waiting for the Prince Charming’s kiss and rescue. I did not wish anyone A HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY yesterday..there is still far to go before the celebrations can start. This Women’s Day,do not celebrate…there is nothing to celebrate yet. …
