5 steps of digital detoxification- Towards # Real Togetherness!
Hand in hand, fingers entangled… Gazes locked with each other. Fleeting touch or a little smile The essence of being together! In a time not very long ago, this quote held its relevance. Now though, it has become irrelevant. While the human race cherishes its dominance over machines, it has actually become a slave to it. The fingers are no longer entangled with those of the loved one but rather hold a tiny device that has taken over the present world. Seldom does anyone notice the surroundings any more, beautiful or ugly, as the eyes are glued to screens of laptops and tablets and mobiles. The only touch everyone seems…

A heartfelt promise to my heart!
It is true that we women take less care of our health than we should. It has nothing to do with ignorance or lack of awareness, trust me. It just stems from the fact that in our checklist of priorities, we forget to list ourselves. Working women have too much on their hands and the house makers have no time. I say so because despite being a medical doctor myself, I usually forget to do anything proactively for fitness. I just keep procrastinating, thinking that I will start once I am done with the work at hand. Work never ends and it is my non-medico husband who reminds me constantly…

OROP and Chetan Bhagat-I wish he never spoke!
source He looked up at the blazing sky and then at the shrivelled skin of his hands. The fauji feared no weather for he sat there fighting with his saab, just as he had earlier. Only that the last had been almost two decades ago and age had been on his side. He knew his enemy and the goal was crystal clear- save our motherland! His saab, now a retired colonel was a smart major then and he had been his buddy. The orders had been clear and there wasn’t an iota of doubt. They all knew who they were fighting against. Their bodies had strength and their hearts were full…

Home is where the remote is!
In the times when women swear by characters like ‘Gopi Bahu’ and discuss serials more than their actual lives, I have a confession to make- I don’t watch serials. I have heard of Gopi bahu but I do not even know what channel the serial is aired on. Good…you say? Well yes, maybe ‘coz the stories of addiction are rampant but my reasons are different. Though I am no fan of the camera zooming on every character’s face thrice after each dialogue with a melodramatic sound in the background, yet I do like to watch a couple of things on TV when I get an access to it. No,I don’t live…

Horrors of the Heart(h)
I belong to a Punjabi family. In our house, hospitality and ‘feeding till you can breathe no more’ are synonyms. Till the guests who have come over are not fed beyond the retention capacity of their stomachs, they have not been treated well. Punjabis love to eat, period. The cities of Punjab, especially Amritsar are particularly known for oil-dripping, calorie-rich irresistibly yummy food that is bound to increase a person’s cholesterol by leaps and bounds. That is not a deterrent though. Why? I did mention it is irresistibly yummy, didn’t I? We Punjabis have large hearts and huge appetites and expect the same from everyone. Therefore, needless to say that…

A gift from my childhood to my daughter’s
source Say the word childhood and a smile curves up the lips automatically. When we were busy trying to figure out how to grow up, little did we realise that once we actually grew up ,there would be nothing we would miss more than being little kids again! No doubt it is the most beautiful and blessed stage of life. I have innumerable memories of my childhood that fill me with nostalgia and joy every time I think of them: – The biggest stress was learning that algebra sum. – The worst heartache was when a friend said ‘katti‘. – The greatest joy lay in chocolates and candies. – The…

Max Fresh moves of little feet
I came across this contest on Blogadda and decided to let it pass as it demanded uploading a video of someone dancing to the latest Colgate Max Fresh Move song featuring Allu Arjun and Anushka Manchanda. Ask me to dance in a party with others or dance in a baraat, I will happily oblige but filming a video of myself while doing so and uploading it on the social media….well, I am not that good or confident at all. Nevertheless, I sat listening to the song on my laptop, probably imagining what I would dance like if I could. My 6 year old daughter, who was all sleepy and unwilling…

My Dream Home!
source Maybe it has something to do with the castles I read about so avidly in fairy tales as a child or an overdose of movies like ‘The Princess Diaries’ in my teens…I have forever been fantasizing the perfect home for myself. While travelling, my eyes have always been on the lookout for beautiful houses. Interior designing books and magazines are accumulating dust in my house but I refuse to do away with them…thinking I shall need them some day! The fairy tale began well. I fell in love with Prince Charming- sounds perfect, right? The only difference is that my knight in shining armour is a knight in olive greens.…
