Culinary misadventures in Travel
Food is an important part of travel and culinary exploration is an essential part of my itinerary, wherever I go! I tend to become very courageous in my experiments with cuisines during travel and being a non-vegetarian helps. Although my stomach does not agree with too spicy or oily foods but I still try to taste the local cuisine and delicacies particular to the place I am visiting. The experiments lead to some amazing experiences and some not-so-sweet ones as well. Nevertheless, they form incredible memories! On one such travel to Andamans, I learnt a couple of interesting things: Be prepared to face the consequences of your experiment Beaches are synonymous…

Travelling with a baby-2 funny tales!
As a couple, my husband and I both love to travel (I know I have told you this a zillion times already!) and when baby S entered our lives, we never realised it would make a difference till we actually travelled. From one suitcase, our luggage grew to three out of which two only contained her paraphernalia. The hatchback that was sufficient for us suddenly seemed cramped up and after trying to stuff in all the luggage and the baby bag and the bottle steriliser and the pram, we finally bought a sedan with the biggest boot space in its category. For a couple of months thereafter, we basked in…

Rewalsar-A lesser known paradise!
There is so much beauty in the off beat track but very few of us dare to take the path less travelled. Himachal is known for its picturesque hill stations like Simla, Kulu-Manali and Dharamshala. There are not many people who know that nestled atop a mountain spur is a spectacular lake that not only mesmerises with its beauty but also awes with the fact it is a place revered by three faiths- Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs. Rewalsar- a small town about 25 kms from Mandi, borders a square shaped lake which bears the same name. Here, you get an eyeful of a lake, the hills and the forest in one…

5 Reasons why I love travelling with my kid and you should too!
I have often heard parents, especially mothers, fret over an upcoming vacation and the inconvenience of travelling with a kid. Some of them even say that they have not planned any travel since the kids were born for ”it is just too difficult to manage”. So, to all of those mothers, and you too, if you are one such parent, I ask you to stop worrying! If you are not travelling with your child, you are really missing out on an incredible experience. I love travelling, which you know of course, so does my husband and our daughter too! We are not able to travel together as a family because…

Dalhousie- the neglected queen still mesmerises!
A royalty who has outlived her times of glory, yet retains the regalness. That is how you may define Dalhousie- a quiet hill station in Himachal Pradesh, just 85 kms from Pathankot. Sheltered by the Dhauladhars, the quaint place may not hold the hustle bustle of Mussourie or the throng of the Mall Road of Simla, yet it holds an old-world charm coupled with serenity and that still makes it a favoured destination for many vacation seekers. The hill station was established in the year 1854 by the British government as a summer retreat for its soldiers. It was named after Lord Dalhousie, the Governor-General of the country at that…

Travel to beaches-my favourite theme for a dream!
You must have often heard the proverbial dialogue of Shahrukh Khan from the movie Om Shanti Om that implies that if you wish something hard enough, the whole world conspires to fulfill it. Very theatrical. I know but destiny does work in mysterious ways to help you reach your goals. I always loved traveling as a child and every summer vacation I spent at home made me dream of the places I could have seen. As I grew up, I kept hoping I meet a soulmate who shares with me my love for travel. As luck would have it (or as destiny conspired it to be), I ended up falling…

Must-see in Jammu & Kashmir- Shiv Khori Cave Temple
Shiv Khori Temple is a must-see if you are planning to visit any place in Jammu & Kashmir. This temple, situated in a cave, fills you with awe and a mystical calm. Located in the district Reasi, about 80 kms from Katra and 140 kms from Jammu, it is housed atop a hill and one needs to trek for about 3.5 kms to reach the temple. The trek route is flanked by mountains on one side and a river on the other. The unadulterated beauty of nature and the caress of the cool winds are complemented by chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’. The trek is comfortable and the distance…
