30 days into #MyPediaSureJourney- fighting fussy eating habits!

Last month, I wrote a post titled ‘Why I recently bought a health drink for my child’. Frankly, at that time, it was just another attempt as a mother, to try and ensure proper nutrition for my daughter who is a fussy eater. What she likes today, she shuns the next. But a month later, the dark cloud seems to have a silver lining. Maybe it is too early to really comment and point out, but I do see subtle changes.

When I introduced my child to PediaSure Nutrition, I started with the Premium Chocolate flavour and the prompt acceptance of the same made me stick to it. I understand that the other flavours – Vanilla and Kesar Badam – are also quite yum and maybe I’ll give those a try too, but for now, I’m going with the PediaSure recipe that’s tried and tested with my child. Adding PediaSure powder to her daily glasses (two) of milk made it tastier and the entire process of actually drinking milk started taking lesser time. That was the first encouraging sign.

I have seen my daughter love a certain thing one day and absolutely hate it the next. I was not going to take that risk. ‘Better safe than sorry,’right? So I put on my chef’s hat on and decided to create more recipes using PediaSure for kids, like the one below that she happens to love.

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 small banana
  • 2 tab PediaSure powder
  • 1 tab peanut butter
  • 2 tab chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup milk

Method

Blend all the ingredients together, leave out the chocolate syrup initially. Line the sides of the glass with the chocolate syrup and pour the mixture into the glass. Finish off with a little decoration using a cute straw.

Tempting…Isn’t it? Very sumptuous and nutritious too!

When your child is a fussy eater, getting proper nutrition can cause them to feel tired and irritated. With my little girl, the foul mood makes her more resistant to food and the vicious cycle makes me all the more worried. I noticed a change in the frequency of her mood swings and she also seems happier on most days. Her energy levels are up and she does not get cranky as the day progresses.

My grandmother used to say, ‘A well-fed child sleeps well!’ In the past month I have noticed a small, but definite change in her sleeping patterns too.

It’s too early for me to gauge the impact of PediaSure on her growth and brain development, but all the signs seem to be promising.

Although I am still having a hard time getting her to accept healthy foods and inculcate good eating habits, I am no longer worried that her nutrition is being compromised. I do hope that with the change in her mood, she might become more receptive to the introduction of new food stuff. Good luck to us!
