Home remedies for radiant skin

India is home to the great science of Ayurveda. Coming to think of it, mothers in every household are avid Ayurveda practitioners. When I was a teenager, my mother used to give me a mixture of chickpea flour(besan), curd(dahi) and turmeric(haldi) to use as scrub on my face. She never let me use the cosmetic ones and trust me, not only does your skin shine after using this home-made scrub, it even feels softer.
Similarly, there are many other natural and extremely simple tips you can follow at home to #come closer to radiant skin.

1. Hydrate your skin
Water is your skin’s best friend. It is very important to drink at least ten glasses of water in a day. The more hydrated your skin is, the healthier and younger it shall appear.

2. Never go to bed with make up on
Do not ever go to bed with the make up on. I know it is very difficult at times, specially after a late night party to resist the temptation of slipping under the sheets and let the make up be. Sleeping with make up on suffocates your skin as the pores remain blocked and get predisposed to formation of blackheads and pimples.

3. Sleep well
It is not termed as beauty sleep for nothing. Sleeping for 6-8 hours every night is important for your skin to rejuvenate and give you a fresh look in the morning. Sleeping  for less than 6 hours will cause puffy eyes and under-eye dark circles.

4. Eat a healthy diet
Say no to junk food if you want healthy skin. What you eat shows on your face too. Junk food causes breakouts and acne prone skin. Eat a well balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and see the difference it makes to your skin. Another thing,Do not smoke…for your lungs as well as your skin!

5. Avoid heavy-duty cosmetics
Avoid using too many chemicals on your face. Try and use home remedies like the besan scrub I mentioned earlier. If you are one of the lazy kinds or too-much-on-my-hands type, you can thank Vicco turmeric for the completely Ayurvedic, chemical-free products they manufacture. Try their latest ‘VICCO Turmeric Cream’ foam that not only cleanses your face but also prevents acne and blackheads.
See for yourself.

6.Work it out
Going for a brisk walk or sweating out in the gym not only makes you lose that extra fat but also increases the blood circulation and improves complexion and skin tone. So go ahead and grab those sneakers!

7. Keep calm
Mental peace has intense physical implications. Try meditating for a calm mind and detoxifying the body which imparts a natural glow to your skin.

8. Know your skin
It is important to know the type of your skin. Just because something works for your friend doesn’t mean that it will work for you. Once you know what works for you, stick to it.

9. Pamper yourself once in a while
Do pamper yourself once in a while and massage your face if you cannot get one. Use natural oils like coconut oil/almond oil and feel the change.

10. Be confident and smile
Whenever you are having a bad hair/skin day, wear your best confident smile. The smile on your lips that reaches your eyes makes your face glow instantly. Love yourself, stay happy!
